Orthotics and Inserts

Orthotics are custom made inserts for inside your shoes to support your feet and reduce pain. Clinical research studies have shown that orthotics both decrease foot pain and improve function. Unlike shoe inserts you can buy in stores, they are molded and customized to fit your feet. Prescription orthotics are also made of higher quality materials and last several years unlike store brands. There are two types of orthotics, Functional orthotics that control abnormal motion and accommodative orthotics that provide additional cushioning and support. A skilled therapist can assess your arch and your gait/walking pattern to determine the type of insert/orthotic you may need. The inserts can decrease pain associated with plantar fasciitis, heel pain, achilles tendonitis, bursitis, ankle injury, knee pain, hip pain and/or lower back pain.
